Lord of the Flies

Chapter ThreeHuts on the Beach

In this chapter the Ralph and Jack show sharp disagreement on how to lead the group. Jack wants to hunt for pigs, while Ralph wants to build huts for shelter. We get to know another  important character better, Simon. He is unlike Ralph, Jack and Piggy, but plays an important role in the society and starts to assert some leadership qualities as well.

In the comments section below, tell me whether or not you agree with Ralph, that huts need to be built first, or Jack, that pigs must be hunted first. Why do you think so?

I agree with Ralph. To build shelters was important than hunt, safety first, just save lives that have the opportunity to be rescued. No meat can eat wild fruits to sustain life, without life, nothing will be gone. The shelters are the life-protecting.

My opinion that to build shelters more important than hunt at that time. To build warm and safe shelters that can save them life's and have to chance to be rescued. I totally agree with Ralph.

I think everything is important: everyone on the island needs a safety place and good food. Children eat only fruits and sometimes crabs, Golding told us that problems with stomach started and especially small kids are sick. I believe that people cannot be healthy without meat, especially children, who need protein. So hunting is important for them. Shelters are important too, because everyone feels fear, and also tropical rain can be started suddenly. They need shelters like temporal homes. The best decision for Ralph and Jack is to find a compromise. A couple children should help Ralph with building shelters and a few should help Jack with hunting.

I agree with Ralph. As a responsible leader he thinks the safety for everybody, especially for the littluns. While he insists to build the shelter first before anything else, he actually tries to create the simple replica of their home. Because shelter can keep their hope to rescue live. And also, shelter means the basic platform for the civilization.

I totally agree with Ralph. A shelter is vital to children will survive in the island and to protect them from inclement weather's conditions such as sun, wind, rain, hot or cold temperatures and insects or animals that could hurt them. Shelter also could comfort little ones and could give them a feeling of well-being improving their sleeping and maintaining their wish to survive.

For my opinion and considering the circumstances, Ralph is right with his request to build the shelter before investing the group time with hunting.
the young kids don't feel secure on the island and keep dreaming about the beastie.
a shelter is one of the most basic needs of a human. the fact you have a protected place to rest can bring you peace and energy that you can invest in other activities and tasks.
besides that, the fact the kids already have fruits and fresh water make the hunting part a luxury and not a commitment.

The priorities should be: The shelter to protect themselves against the environment, Food to survive and to keep the fire to be rescued.

In my opinion, I think that they need to hunt for food first and them to keep the fire on in order to be rescued.

I think that Jack wants to show that he has the qualities to be a leader and that is why he only thinks about hunting so that others see him with power.

I think, the most important is the shelter, before hunting, because the little boys need a saved place. I agree with Ralph.

Is important what the leader decide is important. Ralph as a leader wants to build shelters to keep everybody safe in case of the bad weather so the rest have to respect that a follow directions. Jack wants to hunt for a personal satisfaction.

The both works is very important to me, I think first they needed build shelters to stay safe at the night, also it would help to remember lived organized like in a society. Jack had a good reasons to promote hunting, because he wants to provide meat at the group. I think when you are immerse into a reality to survive and you are the chief, you have to involved in both tasks, built the shelters and participate in hunting, because the chief have to demonstrated his capabilities intellectual and physics to be more respected to the group.
